Doughnuts!

A couple days ago we made doughnuts. Here are some pictures of them .

First you take a doughnut.
Then you dip it in icing .
Then you put sprinkles on it.
Then you put it on a plate.
When you're done it looks like this.
Doughnut Recipe
(typed by Mom...)

3/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/4 cup whole wheat pastry flour (we used regular pastry flour plus a little w.w. flour)
1 tsp baking powder
1/3 cup super fine sugar
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp salt
2 tblsp butter or shortening
1/4 cup whole milk, scalded
1/4 cup plain yogurt
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg beaten

-Preheat oven to 350 degrees and lightly grease the doughnut pan.
-Sift the flours and baking powder in a large bowl. Whisk in the sugar, nutmeg and salt. Add the butter and use your fingers to rub it into the dry ingredients. Add the milk, yogurt, vanilla and egg. Stir until just combined.
-Put batter into a ziplock bag and snip the corner. Pipe the batter into the doughnut pan so that each is 3/4 full.
-Bake until doughnuts are light golden brown (6-10 minutes).

For a glaze, we just mixed powdered sugar, milk and food coloring. (cocoa powder also for the chocolate.)
